Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0011 indicates "Camshaft Position A - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)". Essentially, what this means is that the ECM has detected that the camshaft has advanced too much. This can be caused by a number of things, but typically You'll find that the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are failing, the oil control solenoid is stuck or clogged, or You're using an oil that is too thick. Unfortunately, this is quite a difficult situation to diagnose Yourself, but You can begin by ensuring that You're using the appropriate oil. The downside to that is that the damage may already be done. Have Your camshaft and crankshaft sensors tested, as these may be Your issue. You'll likely notice harsh and erratic engine operation in the meantime.

I had the P0011 code after I found out my turbo had cracked. But a turbo replacement solved the issue.

In my case it was a blown head gasket.
