For the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, You can expect to pay between $450 and $625 for a timing belt replacement. General Motors recommends that You complete this service every 97,500 miles to account for regular wear and tear. However, You may have to complete the service sooner, should Your timing belt be giving You issues. How hard and fast You drive is also another consideration. You can opt to complete the job Yourself for a little bit of coSTSavings -- the parts can be found for around $350. My girlfriend drives a '12 Sonic and I've actually completed this swap before -- I, unfortunately, wouldn't recommend it. I'd pay the extra $150 to have a mechanic do it, because it can be a pain in the You-know-where.
