If Your Dodge Dart is having any mechanical problems then the ECU will store the code and turn on a check engine light on the dash. You will need to use an OBD II scan tool in order to read the codes. If You happen to get a code U1504 that means that You have a problem with the steering angle sensor. This sensor gives information to the ECU about Your steering angle by measuring the rotation of the steering column in Your dash. If the sensor is failing You may notice that steering inputs are delayed, and that can lead to dangerous driving situations. If the light comes on it also may mean that You need to recalibrate the sensor.

Same thing just happened to me. I don't see how changing the battery affected the steering angle sensor.
