The 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor uses SAE 5W-30 motor oil in the engine. Mercedes also recommends using a synthetic oil any time that You need to change it. There are two types of oil that are common on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is a newer type of oil that is engineered to give You better wear protection in Your engine and longer life compared to the older conventional style. This means You only need to change synthetic oil every 7,500 miles compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 mile interval commonly found on conventional. You should check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is full and free from signs of debris or damage that could harm Your engine.
