The "check engine" light can be triggered on a vehicle for many reasons including a loose gas cap, low oil levels, engine overheating and high operating temperatures, O2 sensor failure or catalytic converter issues. In models of the 2018 Chevy Malibu, however, the cause is related to A-A-Classction lawsuit that claims engine power is greatly reduced suddenly due to defective manufacturing. The error activates a warning light due to a faulty electronic throttle control and accelerator pedal position sensor. At highway speeds the Malibu may abruptly reduce the driver's power to less than 20mph, endangering other surrounding motorists traveling at much higher speeds. The remedy involves replacing the pedal position sensor, which repeatedly fails and has generated legal action.

I would like to be part of the Civil Law Suit. My vehicle had this to happen twice. It's very scary while driving on the expressway. How do you be a part of the lawsuit?
My engine light has been on for over a year and the code reads active grill shutter,,it never worked since I had it so I spend money and putin a new one and it still doesn't work,,I also have a malfunction problem where the engine wouldn't start,,

Yes,mine suddenly reduced power while driving on Hwy from 70 to 45 in middle of vacation.
The same thing happens to us we’ve gotten this fixed like 5 times since 2018 it’s unacceptable we took it to the dealership they had no clue what we were talking about and we’re no help
So my 2018 Malibu has recently had its so called recalls fixed. Shortly afterward my shifter was notrecognizing as being in park then just yesterday my car went into reduce engine power. After taking it in I was told the shifter cable was not part of the issue that is happening now caues its a part to that part that's bad.. Hmmm and the reduced engine power is due to a filter the takes in air to cool engine and it want bad because this I typically what has been happening with malibu's so to help prevent it I should take the bra that they will include in the 2700 dollar bill. WTF chevy
