You'll find Your crankshaft sensor on the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado located behind the starter near the intake manifold. Look for a small blue band around a black plastic tube-like part, held in place by a metal bracket and a single bolt. Disconnecting is as simple as unbolting that and unplugging the wiring harness pigtail. Typical diagnostic trouble codes indicating a bad crankshaft sensor are going to be P0335 and P0339. If You experience frequent engine stalling, or if it won't start at all, this is the part that's suspect. Though, be aware that a failing crankshaft position sensor looks a lot like a failing fuel pump, too.

Look next to the crankshaft pulley to the right of the engine block to locate the crankshaft position sensor.
