If You're standing at the front bumper of Your 2008 Chevy Avalanche and looking at the engine compartment, the oil pressure sensor will be on the top right rear corner of the engine. To access it, You will need to remove the intake manifold first. This replacement will require an oil pressure sensor socket and a torque wrench, both of which can usually be rented from a parts store. If You pay to have this part replaced in the 2008 Avalanche, You can expect to pay between $260 and $310. Labor makes up about $180 to $230 of that expense. So, You can save quite a bit of money, if You handle the service work Yourself. In most cases, removing the intake manifold and switching out the sensor takes about 2.5 hours.

Look on the top portion at the back of the intake manifold to locate the oil pressure sensor.

You do not have to remove the intake manifold just the plastic cover on the engine , it can be done with a socket ,extension and ratchet, turns expensive job into a dirt cheap you do it at home and save the labor . I did mine and my neighbors along with 3 of his friends this way. Took all of 20 min each
