The coolant temperature sensor in a 2008 Chevy TrailBlazer with the 4.2L engine can be found on the radiator on the right hand side of the engine. This will measure the temperature of the coolant as it leaves Your engine and heads into Your radiator. It is important to keep an eye on the temperature gauge in Your SUV because if it overheats it can cause permanent damage to the engine and other components. You should also check Your coolant levels every time that You change Your oil. Keeping Your coolant reservoir full is the best way to make sure that You have peak cooling performance in Your car.

The ECT sensor is located at the passenger rear side of the engine on a 06-09 Trailblazer with the 4.2 engine.Locate the passenger rear valve cover bolt and look directly below it and thats where the ECT sensor is located.I have diagrams to post, but I guess pics arent allowed on this site.On the 02-05 Trailblazer 4.2,the ECT sensor is located on the driver side near the front, behind the alternator directly above the thermostat/housing.

The trailblazer/envoy inline 6 motor, for 2005 and down, the ect sensor aka coolant sensor is right behind the alternator, which is driver side engine block, and a real bear to get to. For 2006 and up, it's passenger side engine block toward the firewall. WBROCKSTAR is correct, everyone else is wrong. There's a video on youtube showing replacement of ect sensor on a 2008 trailblazer by removing the passenger wheel.

It's located behind your exhaust on passenger side between firewall and motor. You have to take exhaust off to get to it
