The 2010 Ford Escape has a neutral safety switch that can be found on the inside of the transmission housing case, or beneath the gear shifter in the center column of the vehicle. Symptoms of a faulty switch include the engine refusing to start up, no starting in neutral, or the motor suddenly cranking up in every gear available. If the switch is bad, it will need to be replaced. You can expect to pay between $40 and $124 for parts alone. If You choose to have it replaced by a mechanic or automotive technician, You will need to pay an additional $60 to $240 for labor.
