The spare tire for the 2010 Ford Escape is affixed to the undercarriage in the rear of the vehicle. You can find the tire change tools underneath the rear hatch carpeting. Once You access the tools, You'll need to lift up the bottom of the hatch trim to find the receiver used to lower the tire. This can be achieved by inserting Your lug nut wrench. The receiver is known to become quite rusty, and on a vehicle that's over a decade old, You might find that You need additional torque. You can insert the jack handle into the midpoint of the lug wrench to gain some additional leverage, but You may find that You still need to soak with a rust removal agent. It's best to do this periodically, so You're not stuck when You need the spare tire in an emergency situation.
