The 2010 Ford F-150 does not have a transmission dipstick for checking the fluid in it. Ford recommends letting a dealership or mechanic check Your fluid for You regularly. There is a small valve on the side of the transmission oil pan that can be loosened to allow a little bit of fluid out for inspection. As more vehicles move to more complicated transmissions manufacturers have decided that it is better to let mechanics handle them rather than owners. This has some positives and negatives, the biggest of course being that You will not be able to check the fluid Yourself. If You try to use the valve on the side improperly it may lead to an excessive loss of fluid.

In order to check the level, the dipstick tube with a normal dipstick and then the other transmission has no dipstick there's a plug on the side of the transmission where the tube would go, the plug must be removed and you would need a pump and a small tube to pump it.

My 2010 f150 with 5.4 ltr motor has no dipstick. It's demonstrated in the owners manual. Fluid check must be done via a rudimentary plug on the side of teansmission, to be done from beneath the vehicle. Sorry Folks
