The ECM for a 2011 Chevy Silverado can be found on the driver's side of the engine compartment near the fender. It is a plastic box that is mounted on the fender and has a lot of wires that run into it. The ECM in Your truck controls all of the functions of the engine. This includes the amount of air that is allowed in, the amount of fuel that is used, and when the spark should happen. It is able to control all of this using different sensors that are located around Your engine. If Your vehicle is running rough the first thing You should do is use an OBD II scan tool to check the ECM and determine if there are any codes that were thrown.

2011 Sierra/Silverado BODY CONTROL MODULE or BCM is located under the steering column. The ECM, is found in engine compartment on drivers side inner fender.Previously, GM ECM's had TCM (transmission control) built into the ECM. After 2010, they went to an additional controller to run the transmission. The TCM is located on the passenger side inner fender. Nice try Hazel, but stick to building sandwiches, Ill keep building cars lol
