The oil filter in a 2011 Ford Escape can be found at the oil pan near the front of the vehicle. This is a standard metal filter that threads onto the underside of the engine. Whenever You change the oil in Your Escape You should also make sure to change the filter out. Running clean new oil through an old d***y filter can allow the fresh oil to pick up contaminants and that could get them back in circulation throughout the engine. When You do change the filter You should always install it only hand tight and not over tighten it. The filter will heat cycle with the rest of the engine and if it is too tight it can get stuck on.
