The 2013 Ford Flex inertia or fuel shutoff switch can be found behind the steering wheel under the dash and there will be a small round button that can be pressed to reset it. The intertia switch is designed to shut off the fuel pump when in a crash or wreck to prevent a possible explosion or fire. Some of the symptoms of a failing shutoff switch are engine suddenly stops or stalls, switch will trip intermittently, unable to start the vehicle. The interia switch is supposed to last the life of the vehicle but they can fail at times can cause problems with the drivability of the car. The cost for a replacement switch will range from $20 - $50 depending on if its an aftermarket or OEM product.
