The fuel filter on the 2017 Ford Escape is located along the underside of Your vehicle, near the fuel tank. Usually it functions without You needing to care, but if it gets clogged up, restricting the gas flow and power to the engine, You'll need to replace it. Unplug the fuel pump relay in the fuse box in Your engine compartment, and then start Your engine and let it idle. When it stalls, crank the engine for around five seconds to relieve pressure in the system, then turn off Your car. Disconnect Your battery. Jack up the rear of Your Escape, and find the filter near the fuel tank. Remove the locking tabs holding the fuel lines to the filter on each side, and then remove the lines --- they'll leak gas, so have a rag or something handy. Then, loosen the clamp holding the filter to the chassis, and remove the filter. To install the new filter, do the above procedure in the reverse order.
