The Ford F-150 TCM or transmission control module is located inside the transmission housing, under the hood of the car. The TCM is responsible for making sure that the transmission is shifting when it needs to. If it fails Your car will not shift properly, or at the very least it will shift late. This can cause major damage and should not be ignored. It is possible that a fuse has gone out and this is the cause of the faiulre. If this is the case simply replacing the fuse will be enough. If the TCM itself has gone bad then You will need to take the car into a shop and let a dealer take a look at it.

The transmission control module is located inside the transmission at the rear of the case underneath the end cover.

You’ll have to drop the trans pan, then the valve body (along with the lead frame) the TCM is part of the lead frame. (2017 f150) its the same trans from 09-current I believe
