The transmission control module in a Ford F-150 can be found on the actual transmission housing under the cover at the rear of it. This is what tells Your transmission what gear it should be in and controls all of the gear shifts as well. The transmission control module is essentially a small ECU that works only with the gearbox. If You notice that Your vehicle is shifting rough between gears, or is getting stuck in one gear then it could be a problem with the controller. I would recommend making sure that Your control module is connected properly and that there are no loose wires. It also is easier to replace the control module than replace the gears, so it is usually the first thing that will be changed out when You have transmission problems.
