As the owner of a Ford Fusion, you will need to know how to check your transmission fluid levels every 6 months, or 5,000 miles. This is easy to do, and will only take around 4 to 8 minutes of your time. First, ensure that your vehicle engine is warmed up. Go to the front of your car, and open the hood. Now, look toward the back of the transmission, and you will find a small black tipped dipstick protruding from the reservoir. Remove it and clean it thoroughly with a cloth. Re-insert the dipstick into the reservoir, then remove it again. Look at how high the fluid reaches on the stick, and refill as necessary.

The automatic transmission does not have a fluid dipstick for transmission. Have an approved dealer test the transmission fluid and adjust it at the correct service interval.

On my 2009 Ford fusion, V6, standing in front of the car, the transmission fluid dipstick is just to the left of the battery, just in front of the brake fluid reservoir in a. In the owners guide, in the “maintenance and specifications“ chapter is a graphic of the different parts under the hood. It is true that some late model cars no longer have a dipstick. Be afraid, be very afraid.
