The 2001 Toyota Tacoma has an OBD-II port for reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) in the usual place where it's found on most vehicles. To locate it, You'll need to look to the left of the steering wheel, in the driver's side foot well. You should be able to locate it up under the kick panel, near where Your left foot would sit if You were operating the truck. If You have the max trailering package, You'll have a brake controller on the left side of the dash. This may partially obstruct Your OBD-II port, but iAssure You that it's still there. Some models include something that looks like a port under the hood in the engine compartment, but most (if not all) drivers report not being able to get a connection there.

My obd2 plug is located about 5 inches below my parking brake. Just to the left of my 12volt plugs. Up above the gas pedal connected to the lower dash panel .
