The speed sensor on a 2002 Toyota4 runner is located on the drivers side of the transmissions tail shaft. You will need a 12-millimeter socket and ratchet to remove it. Once You locate the sensor disconnect the electrical connector by pulling out the tab on the side and pulling the plug out. Next put the socket on the Bolt in turn it counterclockwise to remove it. You might have to jiggle the sensor a little bit while pulling out on it to get it out. When installing the new sensor, You might want to use a little silicone grease on the O-ring just to make sure slide into place good. Put the new sensor in and hand tighten the Bolt and then juSTSnug it up without over tightening it with the socket. It is a good idea to put a little dielectric grease on the connector before plugging it back in.
