The transmission dipstick in a 2003 Ford Explorer is located on the passenger side of the engine bay near the back of it. You should be able to spot it because it has a yellow handle on it. Keeping an eye on the transmission fluid in Your SUV is a good idea so that You know that it is full and in good condition. Transmission fluid that is sparkly or reflective usually has metal in it and that is a sign of damaged or worn gears within the transmission which will need to be addressed and flushed. I recommend checking Your transmission fluid levels every time that You get an oil change and that You top them off as needed.

There is no dipstick on the Ford Explorer. There is a torque bit on the bottom of the transmission pan that you have to take out. You will need a special fill adapter to add the fluid through this hole.

My 2003 Ford Explorer does not have a dip stick. After researching this matter I have found out it has a sealed unit. Meaning you can not check the fluid unless you plug a computer into it or physically crawl under the vehicle and check it.

There definitely is no transmission dipstick on a 2003 explorer. It does have a small plug on the bottom of the transmission that must be removed when the engine is hot & idling and this is also how you fill the transmission. This is what I call stupid engineering.
