My car the great keeper jasmine.
There was really no big issue when I got it had less than 50, 000 miles on it, it rides real well, on the road and where I live at we have a lot of potholes you can't hardly feel them at all, it a 4 door, it has a sunroof on it too, the air conditioner was not working well so we had to fix that issue.

Exploring in my Explorer Sport
The only real 'problem' is the mileage varies between 13 and 16 mpg. Here in Texas, known for many-many open roadways, I don't use my Explorer Sport for long road trips. However, the AC works well and the engine also has given me no mechanical problems.

Seems like we are constantly having to fix things on it. It's very expensive. It also seems like it sucks gas really bad.

Ford explorer, unlimited possibilities.
My vehicle has been good for many different uses. I have moved with this SUV four times with little difficulty (it fits my whole queen mattress!). The space in the back is perfect for outdoor gear and the car does well when I travel out of the state. However it seems to need upkeep fairly often after 16 years of driving it.

I like the bench seat in back.
I really like this vehicle.. For a two door it is very roomy. Runs great dependable and good on gas. Trunk is easy to access also has lots of room for a small vehicle. Dash is very easy to read bri g ht and easy to navigate. Dash alerts you when problem exist.

Great vehicle with easy rides and very dependable.
My vehicle is great. A four door, three row seating and back has two different ways of entrance. Very easy and comfy rides. Feels very roomy. Love the fact that it has programmable seat settings. Only issue with this vehicle is the middle seat is a full bench so it makes getting to the third row a bit difficult especially when you have bigger kids that have to get in the back. A second row with buckets seats would be so much easier.

It's depend ability, and great on gas seats 8 to 9 people with lots of room for the passengers or for hauling things
Runs like a champ, love the color, roomy, 4 wheel drive, can hold up to 9 people comfortably. Needed just normal things for inspections, brake pads stuff like that and have had it 3 years, and bought it used.

Reasons why I love my Ford Explorer.
This has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I have been driving it for the last 12 years and I will be sorry when I have to get rid of it. I have every intention of driving it until it dies. It has been excellent on performance and has had very minimal maintenance problems since I purchased it in 2006.

Great family vehicle with plenty of room
I love the fact it has plenty of room for my family. It drives very smoothly and efficient. It has great features (heated seats, electric seats, six CD changer and mp3 hookup, sunroof, radio control on steering wheel, third row seating, towing package ECT..)The problems I've experienced are with the emission system and catalytic converter. Tires are a bit pricey but worth it because they last longer than other tires I've purchased in the past.

My 2003 Ford Explorer has over 218, 000 miles on it & runs like a champ.
I bought my 2003 Ford Explorer xlt with a 3rd row and air conditioning in the back on new year's eve 2004. It had 14, 000 miles and it currently has 218, 000 miles and is running great. I have always kept maintenance up with oil changes and good tires. It has so much space for a growing family and has kept up with my big family now with 8 grandkids for more than 10 years. It does get decent gas mileage on the highway but in town, it can use up quite a bit so I do drive slowly as I can to save on gas. I have cloth seats which I prefer over leather seats with Texas heat and the cassette player still works!

Handles great and the gas mileage is very very decent for a vehicle in four wheel drive.
The only thing that I dislike is the paint peeling off way before it started to rust.

Ran great for 175,000 miles, dropped a new motor in which now has around 45,000 miles on it. Electrical system has a short in it for many years, random alarms and inside lights sometimes work, sometimes don't. Very comfortable to drive or lay in. Ford Explorer : Great small SUV, especially for soccer moms
The Ford Explorer is a really great small size SUV, I'm a soccer mom of 4. It's great for kids and groceries all at the same time. My 2003 Ford Explorer is awesome.
My vehicle allows you to sit up nice and high and it has a 3rd row for extra seating. It is very easy to fold down the 3rd row. It has been a very reliable vehicle. It has 228,000 miles on it and I have had to replace a water pump and a wheel bearing. I have noticed on other Explorers like this as does mine, the back hatch has cracked on both sides of the latch that opens it, but it does not make it leak. I trust this vehicle will continue to be reliable for many miles to come.
accountCircle Brittany B on November 23, 2020
Perfect for families of 4
Overall it is a very nice vehicle depending upon your needs. For my family it is however 1 seat too small. If the 3rd row would hold 3 seats instead of 2 it would be perfect. Interior is quite nice. The rear hatch was cracked when I purchased it and has since cracked more and i've noticed nearly all explorers of similar age have same cracks. I have replaced the engine in it twice in the past 4 years along with head gaskets, egr valves, 4wheel drive shaft and many other things. Has been a big money dump but I am still sentimental towards it and in all love it for what it is.

My 2003 Ford Explorer experience has been nothing short of great.
My explorer was purchased used and has honestly been a great vehicle for the 10 or so years it's been in my family's possession. In terms of problems it has had, they have all been minor in the grand scheme of things and any current issues that arise are more often than not do to it getting up there in age. Even though I'm approaching 200,000 miles on my explorer, it still runs like a dream, drives very smoothly, and handles any trip I take with no issue. I've always been impressed by the comfort of the vehicle even when it's at its full capacity of seven people. If I had to pick my favorite thing about this vehicle it would be how safe I feel whenever I drive in bad weather. I've driven in down pouring rain with flash floods, and snowstorms so bad visibility is only about 10 feet in front of the car, and I've always known that my car would perform in any condition. Feeling safe while driving in winter each year is such a wonderful feeling that I honestly think I'll never have another car besides an explorer.

I love my 2003 Ford Explorer. It can tow 7800 pounds compared to the newer Explorer which only tows 5000. This vehicle travelled 250,000 and now needs a new engine. If anyone is lucky to still own this model, it is well worth to fix it up.

No problems. Very reliable. Gas mileage is not the greatest but it also is not the worst. Very comfortable and roomy. Ford Explorer is a 6 out of 10.
The transmission can become a problem. The interior is loud when driven. It is comfortable, but it could be better and more reliable. 2 Doors are just Cooler
2003 Ford Explorer Sport XLT Premium 4x4 has been very good to me, unlike other American brands that have left me in a parking lot with a no start wondering WTH!? Or stranded on the side of the road thinking "Oh sh*t!" It's very turn key, turning radius is amazing, 4x4 is very capable and gives a secure feeling of road grippage. Maintenance in my 7 years of ownership has been basic like with any vehicle; batteries, alternator, brake pads, thermostat housing, radiator and fan clutch. Of course living in Arizona maybe the last couple items not so common with other owners? One thing that is indicative of the Sport (2 door) model is rear leaf springs tend to give out making the rear end sag. Took in to a local trustworthy mechanic and $250 later... Better leaf springs, better stance, better handling. Also if you drive hard like most people do hitting potholes, speed bumps, & dips at full force because God forbid anyone be last to the next red light be prepared to replace ball joints, steering stabilizers, and tie rods... Oh that happens when you utilize the 4x4 modes and off road pretty hard too. I love my sport it looks cooler than a 4 door, it has an actual straight axels, a real frame and the 4x4 kicks a*s! Now with 200k & power everything still works, AC front and rear blows cold, & recent tune up has it driving even better than when I got it! One thing to note people you have to take care of your vehicle to make them last it's called maintenance it's amazing and it's in your owners manual.

I enjoy driving my vehicle. It has heated seats, tilt steering, cruise control, 4 wheel drive. I have put many miles on this SUV traveling and driving on the straight roads without any type of mechanical issues. The only work that I have done is mandatory oil changes and back breaks. This SUV is the first vehicle I have truly enjoyed driving. It look great, handles like a dream.

It is a well running vehicle.
I love the gas mileage for this type of vehicle. The size is perfect for my use. It feels like i am driving a truck.

This is a great car if you take care of it.
It's still running so that says a lot but it does make a horrible squeaking noise when I drive it and I bounces a lot now.

It just got a brand new transmission put in a few months ago.
I like bigger (SUV-type vehicles), so I feel really safe driving in my vehicle. I have an older car, so problems arise more often than with a newer car. I do wish that I had better gas mileage.

The reliable Ford Explorer.
My Ford Explorer is a great car! It is big enough to hold up to five people which is very convenient. It is also large enough to move all of my belongings back and forth from college. Even though it is a little older, I have had minimal issues with it. The seats are leather with seat heaters and are very comfortable. The gas mileage is not horrible but would preferably be better. I did have to replace the radio system when it died but the cost was little compared to other vehicle costs. My car has never broke down and has always gotten me from point A to point B.

Reliable vehicle. Stylish look for it's age. Good on gas.

Flaws with my explorer sport
My explorer shocks went out very quick. The back seat passenger side seatbelt faulted. The ac no longer works, back glass fell off but didn't shatter. It can haul a huge trailer loaded down. I don't like that its 2 doors and passenger side handle is broke.

I use my truck to go places with my family and it's really comfortable and has a lot of space so my family doesn't feel like they are sitting on top of each other!!!!
I have to say that I love my Ford explorer. It's been very reliable and I don't have anything bad to say about my truck. It's very nice on the inside and I love the space.

This is the most dependable vehicle I have ever driven!
The car is great. The only issue we have had so far was the battery. We bought the car used with 100, 000 miles on it, with a four year old battery. The car is spacious, comfortable, and reliable for school, work, and errands!

Great all year long mountain climbing.
Runs great. Drives great in snow. 4w drive. Great when stuck. What I hate is the tranny is all sealed.
