To open the trunk on the 2016 Chevy Malibu You have three options. The first is to go to the back of the trunk and feel under the lip of the trunk. There is a button there that will release the latch. This will only work if the trunk is unlocked, however. Secondly, You can press the button on Your key fob that looks like an open trunk. This will also open it up, even if it is locked. Finally, You can get into the car and look for the trunk button on the left of the steering wheel, it looks like the button on the fob, and press it. This will unlock it and open it for You as well.

Angela, there is not internal way to open it from the cabin. It is a massive oversight when it comes to Chevrolet engineering.

If you need to open the 2016 chevy malibu trunk from the outside there is a release button above the rear license plate. It's behind the chevy symbol.

If you have a 2016 Chevy Malibu 2.0Turbo and you have trunk issue meaning if you have keyless entry and trunk don’t open with key fob or from trunk. Open hood locate fuse box once open, the trunk fuse is #6 it’s a 7.5 fuse.

To sum up all answers. There is no trunk release button in the cabin. There is an external trunk release button on the trunk near the Chevy emblem that can be used if the car is unlocked. If the car is in park and off you can use the key fob to open the trunk.
I still can't find the bottom on inside to open trunk and someone's trying to open from outside works when it feels like it. Does anyone know where the power steering fuse or relay is what number it is
