There are a number of reasons the Ford Escape's speakers may fail to work, and the diagnostics necessitate some more questions. Is it just one speaker that's failed, or is it all of them Do You get any sound at all through the affected speaker(s) Do any of the Audio inputs work (radio, auxiliary, CD, etc) If a single speaker has failed, it's likely that the wiring has shorted or the speaker itself is blown out. This requires replacement of either the wiring or the speaker. If all speakers have failed, You either have the worst luck in the world or You have an Audio out issue with Your head unit or amplifier. If it's only a single Audio input that's failed, look to something like the CD player (for CD failure), antenna (for radio failure), or the auxiliary port (for aux failure).

The radio sometimes disconnects from the speakers, when an electrical anomaly is detected. Try resetting the radio.
