If the Ford Fusion gear shift light is staying on there is one very common issue. The microswitch that checks to see if the car is in park is not working. This is a very minor thing to fixAnd should be quite cheap to do, so best not to ignore it. If this is not the issue then You need to take the car into the shop. While unlikely it may have an issue with the transmission, which could result in damage if the car starts or fails to shift when it should. That said this is almost never the case, so don't panic if the light is not going out.

A common cause of this issue is that the micro switch that detects that the vehicle is in park is not tripping. This microswitch, which is located inside the shifter assembly should be replaced if no other causes are identified.

For some reason it drained my battery and the numbers on the door flashes.
