If Your Toyota RAV4's alarm is going off intermittently, You'll most likely be looking at one of a few issues. Note that if You have an aftermarket alarm system, You may be looking at various other issues and solutions -- this only holds true for the RAV4's factory installed key fob alarm system. The most likely cause is low voltage coming from Your battery. You may have a component draining it (like a light that stays on, or an electronic pulling power), or You may just have an older battery. Either way, the decreased voltage does something to mess with the alarm system, and can cause it to go off intermittently. If this isn't Your issue, You may be looking at a failed electronic control unit (ECU), which is located behind the glove box.

Put the key in the ignition and turn the key so that the battery is on, but the engine doesn't start. Quickly push and hold in the override button until you hear the alarm sound once
