There are a few reasons that Your Toyota RAV4's sunroof may leak -- some of them are intuitive, and some are not. One of the most common reasons is degraded weather sealing around the perimeter of Your sunroof. If this is damaged, it will create an unobstructed path for water to enter Your cabin. Another common, but less known, reason for leaking is a d***y weather seal -- granules of dirt can act almost as bad as cracks, and funnel the water inside of Your vehicle. The third common reason for a leaking sunroof is a plugged drain tube. The water that is introduced into Your sunroof has to go somewhere; this is why they use drain tubes. However, if that overflows, then You've got excess water with nowhere to go except inside of Your cabin.

That is what they told me when I went in to have it fixed, also my airbag, malfunction lite came on, they said it was not mechanical & would not fix, the leaking sunroof was ruining my interior so I paid them to fix it... Then 6 Months it was leaking again & a different dealer said the same thing - I bought a new 2005 Rav4 (w/sunroof) from them & had it 13 yrs..I had no problems w/ anything. I have had a total of 5 cars w/sunroofs before this one & never had a problem...One used car I even had a sunroof installed after I bought it. It is nothing I am doing wrong. I have had to ducktape a waterproof shield over the sunroof & still have no airbags. This is the only claim I have turned in since 2005 & Toyota will not honor their warranty or their repairs. I am totally disappointed & angry w/ how Toyota treats a loyal customer who has spend around $60,000 on 2 new Rav4's, plus all their service.

The toyota rav4 common sunroof leak is usually because of a clogged sunroof drain or the drain outlets.
