In the 2006 explorer, the ABS and Traction Control systems and sensors both act on the same computerized module. As a result, an issue in one might cause the other to malfunction as well, triggering both lights in the process. To get the car checked, conduct a comprehensive diagnostic of both these systems, as well as the cars firmware. If everything is up to date, there is most likely a fundamental issue with either the brake system, or the traction control system. If thats the case, its best to consult an expert on the matter. Take Your car to a dealership or an auto-shop to pinpoint exactly what's causing the issue.

The 2006 ford explorer abs and traction control light being on means that there is a sensor fault at the wheel.
