If Your 2012 Honda Civic check airbag light remains on, it most likely means that the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) has detected a problem with the airbag system. When functioning properly, the airbag light comes on when You turn on the ignition. It should turn off once You start the engine. The Airbag system is comprised of a control unit, multiple sensors, seat-belt buckles, tensioners, and airbags themselves. Any of these components can fail. Driving Your car with the airbag light increases the chances of serious injury if You get into an accident. Frontal airbags saved almost 50,000 lives between 1987 and 2015.

That's not quite true. There could be a fault in the system but that's only a 50/50 chance. Honda Civics 2010-2012 have a factory issue that makes the Passenger Side Airbag Off sign come on randomly. I've had my 2012 in and out of Honda Service and several street shops over the course of 5 years trying to figure it out, until a very wise man figured it out. The airbag isn't actually off, just so you know. It's literally just a glitch in the sign that, for whatever reason, can't be fixed.

Best to avoid airbag repair unless you KNOW what you are doing... It can explode and ruin your day!
