That's not quite true. There could be a fault in the system but that's only a 50/50 chance. Honda Civics 2010-2012 have a factory issue that makes the Passenger Side Airbag Off sign come on randomly. I've had my 2012 in and out of Honda Service and several street shops over the course of 5 years trying to figure it out, until a very wise man figured it out. The airbag isn't actually off, just so you know. It's literally just a glitch in the sign that, for whatever reason, can't be fixed.

The airbag system light on the 2012 honda civic usually comes on when there is a fault in the airbag system.
Best to avoid airbag repair unless you KNOW what you are doing... It can explode and ruin your day!
