First, and most likely, could be a clogged up fuel pump. If the fuel pump is no longer running correctly due to clogging, You will see a loss in gas mileage. Over time, You could end up with vibrating of the engine compartment, shuddering, stalling of the engine, and difficult, rough idling. A new fuel pump can cost between $130 and $473.

One possible reason your ford escape is getting bad gas mileage is because you could have a clogged fuel filter. Over time the filter can become clogged, and will need to be replaced.

BAD fuel filer; d***y IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE and THROTTLE BODY! Here is h where the FINAL AIR/FUEL mixture is djusted by signals from the O2 sensor: OIL CHOICES! VALVOLINE is a TERRIBLE OIL in every sense! IT's VAPORS eat RUBBER PARTS, seals and gaskets! And leave WAX and ASH s dept its cause it is REFINED from WAX and TAR!; Install a set of IRIDIUM LASER earplugs from DENSO! Denso TWIN TIP iridium plugs have PROVEN to be about the BEST plug out there! I put them in a DODGE HEME truck and mileage went from 14 on highway to 19.5 with a CLEAN T bound and IAC valve! BIG DIFFERENCE!; CLOGGED UP CATALYTIC CONVERTER! This is an EASY FIX really! There is a product called CATA-CLEAN! Also just using AMSOIL POWER FOAM in the INTAKE wile clean up the O@ and the CONVERTER with EASE11 Run POWER FOAM through the PCV vavle and watch the CLOUDS of c**p coemout the tailpie as it remvoes YEARS and YEARS of TAR, WAX, SOOT and hard COKE frmoteh piston riengs and tops! There si NOTHING like it ANYWHERE on EARTH!
