The auto idle stop has an off button that You're going to see on Your dashboard. If this button has been pressed then the system is going to be deactivated. If it's on and still not working there there are a handful of other issues You maybe dealing with. The most common is that You don't have Your seat belt fastened. You might also be dealing with an issue where Your engine coolant is not at the right temperature. If it is too high or too low You're not going to be able to run this system. Lastly the transmission fluid temperature being too high or low could also effect this.

I have bought 3 Honda Pilots. The 2019 has this horrible idle stop feature which has shut down in the middle of I-5 dead during rush hour. I will NEVER buy a Honda again and will look at selling this soon. It's quit on me 7 times so far. Who ever invented this feature and ruined Honda should be fired!

Some reasons for the auto idle stop in your honda pilot to not work is a blown fuse or even a damaged wire.

Honda just announced a recall for the auto idle not restarting the engine. I have been experiencing the same issue with my car, auto idle simply does not engage

None of these reasons answer the question for me. I never disable it and always have my seat belt on. Even when the A/C and heat are off, it is still hit or miss that the idle off will work. On the rare occasion that it does work, I've never had issues with my car starting again.
I had a horrible experience my Honda shut off in a busy street and it was so Embarrassing. I have called Honda and they flush out some c**p and still doesn’t work

I just had my vehicle turn off on me on a busy street…to the point where the police had to block my vehicle to keep me from getting hit. I’ve had issues with it turning off but have always been able to start it again. I had to be towed this time. Not happy Honda
