While there exist a number of reasons why the Ford Fiesta's USB port will fail to charge, the most likely and first You should check is the integrity of the charging cable itself. This is a simple and cheap fixAnd if it happens to be Your issue, You'll save YourseLFA metric ton of headache. Simply swap with another cable, and see if the issue resolves. If it doesn't, then You can move on to hardware issues. You're either going to be looking at bad wiring, or a bad connector (or pins). Depending on the location of Your USB port (head unit, dash, or center console), You'll have various levels of cost associated with replacement. Often times, wiring can be replaced without a total swap, but if the connector itself is failing, You'll need to remove and replace the entire port.

Before you take it into dealer try and do a soft reset with the radio. This worked fine for me, every now and again the screen will freeze and a soft reset sorts it out. I suspect that it’s just a software issue but to update is a right pain in the a**e to do. So reset is a work around. It’s a good idea to buy some usb blanking plugs this will stop dust particles from building up when they aren’t being used. USB connectors do not like even the smallest of dirt.

A priori the format of the USB key must be in FAT16/32 (not NTFS)

This is due to a bad connection or wire that is not working.

Clean out the USB port, could have dirt or crumbs in there blocking the connection. Blow it out or vacuum it.
