A ticking noise from Your Ford Ranger'S3.2L engine is most likely from the engine's lifters. There's a few reasons this can happen, and some are more serious than others. You might get lifter noise if Your engine's running low on oil. The Ranger'S3.2 is notorious for burning up oil between changes, so it's worth checking Your level. If You're very low, it's possible that You have a leak. Some drivers report getting lifter noise after losing oil due to a blown rear main seal. Alternatively, it's possible that You just have an old truck; lifters tend to get noisier as vehicles get older. You can help mitigate this by using high mileage oil, but in this case, there's not much that can be done.

This is coming from the engine's valve train components like lifters, rockers, camshafts and cam adjusters.

My Ford ranger 2018 model and only 60 thousand km. I have ticking noise when the engine warms up but no ticking noise on the first 5 minutes of idling and when i accelerate the engine the ticking noise gone. Its sounds like a rocker arm.
