The most common reason for a backup camera to stop working in a Toyota RAV4 is a blown fuse. In this case, You will likely get a no signal error. This is an easy fix. Check the diagrams in the owner's manual or the inside cover of the fuse boxes to see which one houses the fuse for this particular feature. If the backup camera is black and white static, You're probably dealing with a faulty connection or frayed wire. You can check to make sure the cables are all connected securely, but a frayed wire will need to be repaired or replaced. If the screen is black, but You're not getting a no signal error, this can also be due to a wiring issue, but might be a camera problem as well. Ford did recall thousands of backup cameras for this reason. Lastly, if the picture is blurry or distorted, You simply need to clean the lens using a microfiber cloth.

If your backup camera is not working the first thing you can check is the fuse connection to make sure it is getting power.
