You get into Your 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, and try to start the engine. The problem is, nothing happens. You hear cranking, as if the engine is attempting to start, but it doesn't. You could be experiencing a faulty starter, or a bad alternator. You also may be having an issue with a battery that is in the process of dying. If the starter is bad, it will cost between $85 and $295 for a new one. If the problem is the alternator, it will be a bit more expensive, with a cost of up to $250 to $684. If the battery is dying, first check the connections at the terminals, or replace the battery if it cannot be charged at a cost of $50 to $240.
