The Dodge Journey's rear side door is known to malfunction. Owners suddenly find it will not open using either the manual or remote controls. It does not respond to the Journey's central locking controls either. The problem is prevalent across 2008-2010 models and usually involves replacement of the lock actuator. Other parts involved include the driver's control panel and wiring between the trunk and the rear doors. Their function can also be affected by a failing lock motor, broken handle connection or disconnected or bent arms. The average cost to have the rear door lock actuator replaced on the Dodge Journey is between $230-$250 in parts and labor with costs divided almost evenly.

If a Doge Journey door won't open check the door latch as well as the linkage to the door handle.
