The Altima is still plagued by problems with Nissan’s CVT, even though improvements have been made over the years.

The Altima offers a compelling package in a budget-friendly midsize sedan with good engine options.

2019 Nissan Altima: Quick Overview

  • The 2019 Nissan Altima is an affordable used sedan that can be found from $21,680 to $29730, depending on trim. The most desirable option is the SR VC-Turbo, which provides a more powerful motor without a big increase in cost.
  • The Altima comes with two different engine choices that should have no problem lasting over 250,000 miles. The main issue with the Altima is that they still use a CVT, which has been known to have problems in the past.
  • The Altima is a very fuel-efficient vehicle that gets up to 39 miles per gallon on the highway. And the 2.0l turbocharged engine offers fun performance on the road.
  • For the 2019 model year, the Altima came with nine different color options. The NHTSA also gave the Altima a five-star overall crash test rating, making it one of the safest sedans on the road.
  • Compared to the competition, the Altima may be missing out on some of the latest safety technology. But it is a more budget-friendly option, making it a good value for the money.

A lot of car for a great price!
The drive is smooth. The interior is simple yet sleek. The sr version comes with nice rims and tinted windows which is a plus. You get the look of a maxima but better price! The front grill is very sporty. Apple CarPlay is a great feature installed in the car.

The amazing 2019 Nissan Altima.
The Nissan Altima is a great car, I love the way it looks. The camera backup feature is really helpful when pulling out of driveways or parking spots to ensure you do not back up into anything. I find the push to start button really cool and easy to use. I love the touch screen for the radio and the ability to use Bluetooth connected to my iPhone to play music.

The best car I've ever had.
I love my vehicle because she has heated seats, heated steering wheel, keyless entry, cruise control, cameras in front and back, sensors if you move out of your lane, automatic brakes, emergency brake, flat tire sensor, smart car, power steering, reclining seats.

It is an amazing vehicle and I love how smooth it is when you drive it.
I have never drove a car as smooth as this Nissan, it is truly amazing. It has a very good speaker in it for the young folks that like to play loud music all the time. And it has so many features to it including an emergency break and blind spot signal alerts are included.

Very amazing vehicle overall.
My car is very reliable and drives smooth. It is really annoying that the seat belt alarm cannot be turned off. It goes off for 4 minutes continuously. Sometimes I Detects that there is a person in my seat even when there is not one. So that is really annoying. Great gas mileage. Love the touch screen stereo system.

I love my 2019 Nissan Altima.
All features are great. Cruise control, driver assistance is by far my favorite feature. Driver assistance helps you stay within lines when you have a long drive. Gas mileage is efficient. Spacious for single or family usage. Altimas are beginning to look just as nice as maximas.

Hate this car!!!!
I hate my 2019 Altima. I've had the display screen replaced due to malfunction. Since then it has glitched twice and needed software updates. I've had engine failure warnings, the remote start only works when close to the vehicle, unlocking with the key fob only works when it feels like it even though the lights clearly flash. The wheel bearing went at 25 000 kms. The collision warning lights flash all the time when no one is near me. I am counting down the days until my lease is up.

Worse Altima I've owned
Vehicle makes a clicking noise when I make a rolling right turn while pressing the gas paddle. I've taken the car to the dealer but the claim they are unable to recreate the issue. The radio has frozen becoming unresponsive after having the car for only a month and a half. My entire rim has cracked split into two. The dealer insisted I hit some sort of major pothole but I believe I have a faulty wheel. I've owned a 2016, 2017 and now this 2019 Altima. I will not be buying another.

I do not recommend 2019 Nissan Altima.
It is ok. It has a blind spot feature I hate and I turn off the feature all the time. I wouldn't really recommend this car. It drives ok. It is sporty. The first time the blind spot feature came on it came on for no reason and I found out it was being considered to be recalled by Nissan. I would not repurchase my car if given the option.

Good car, gets the job done, but could be better.
It is a little uncomfortable, I live in south Florida, it is really hot, unlike other vehicles I have driven before, this one in particular takes a long time to cool down a little bit, it is extremely hot all the time in the car. It drives really good, but I would say that is about it, the gas is not that great either.

Navigation problems
Navigation directions identify roads as county road # or state road # instead of the local road names. The audio for directions sometimes does not work. Cannot find some local streets or towns. Buttons for radio must be pushed multiple times for station to change.

How Much is a Used 2019 Nissan Altima?

When the 2019 Nissan Altima was first released, it had an MSRP starting at $23,750. The price could increase to over $35,000 depending on the trim and options that were selected when they were new. There are a few problems that are known to exist on the 2019 Nissan Altima, although it is a relatively new car, and not every possible problem has been documented yet. The most common problem with the Altima is that the automatic braking system activates at random when there is no obstacle to avoid. Another problem owners have reported with the Altima is that the backup camera will malfunction. Nissan has released a software update for the infotainment system that gets the backup camera working properly again.

The final issue is with the CVT transmission, which has been known to have problems over the years, and although Nissan has improved them, they are still a weak point. Owners report issues shifting between gears at around 40,000 miles.

How Long Will the 2019 Nissan Altima Last?

Nissan is known for building engines that last a very long time, and you should expect the motor in the 2019 Nissan Altima to last over 250,000 miles with no major issues. The weak point in the Altima is the CVT transmission, which have been known to fail under 100,000 miles, and when they do fail, they will need to be replaced since they are complex and difficult to work on. The most important thing you can do if you want your 2019 Nissan Altima to last a long time is to keep up with the scheduled maintenance.

What Technology Does the 2019 Nissan Altima Have?

Since the 2019 Nissan Altima is all-new, there is a lot of new technology in the vehicle. It includes an upgraded infotainment system with Nissan Connect. The system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Nissan has also updated their navigation system to be better than ever and help you find your destinations with ease.

Some of the other technology in the Altima includes a standard rearview camera and Nissan’s advanced automatic braking system that will automatically engage the brakes to help prevent accidents.

The 2019 Nissan Altima’s fuel economy is impressive. The 2.5L 4 cylinder base engine gets 28 miles per gallon in the city, and 39 on the highway. This leads to a combined rating of 29 miles per gallon.

Does the 2019 Nissan Altima Have Good Performance?

Since the 2019 Nissan Altima is built to be a midsize sedan to get around town, it is not the most thrilling in terms of performance. With the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, you can expect to get from 0-60 miles per hour in 8.3 seconds. When you step up to the 2.0L turbocharged engine, you can do 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. What Colors Does the 2019 Nissan Altima Come in?

How Safe Is the 2019 Nissan Altima?

The NHTSA gave the 2019 Nissan Altima an overall perfect five-star rating for safety. This includes an overall four-star crash test rating for the front of the vehicle. How Big is the 2019 Nissan Altima?

Since the 2019 Nissan Altima is a midsize sedan, it is comparable in size to most other sedans. The Altima is 193 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 57 inches tall. It also has 15.4 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk, which should be enough room to haul all your weekly groceries or some luggage for a road trip.

VehicleHistory Image

How Does the 2019 Nissan Altima Compare to Other Cars?

Compared to other midsize cars, the Nissan Altima ranks somewhat near the bottom of the list. The main reason for this is that owners have reported a few problems with the car, noting that it is lacking some of the features of the competition. The strongest competitor to the Altima is the Toyota Camry, which has a much more advanced suite of safety technology, and it is known to be more reliable. The Altima and Camry do have similar infotainment and interior quality though.

One of the highest-rated midsize sedans on the market for 2019 was the Subaru Legacy. It scored higher because it offers more versatility than the Altima since it has an all-wheel-drive system offered as standard. The Legacy is also slightly larger than the Altima, making it more comfortable for passengers in the back seats. All in all, the midsize car market is very competitive, and the Altima has a place in it. But it is lacking some features of the higher-ranking choices.

Final Verdict: Why We Recommend the 2019 Nissan Altima

We recommend the 2019 Nissan Altima because it is a comfortable and reliable midsize sedan. It may not have all of the latest safety technology, but it is a more budget-friendly choice than most of the competition. It also offers two long-lasting engines that should be able to hold up well over time.

The car itself has an incredibly smooth drive.
In terms of problems I have had none except for the key fob dying. However this was simply fixed by replacing the battery. Performance wise the car performs excellent in all conditions presented in the us. Reliability is not an issue with consistent performance, driving smoothness and monitoring/maintenance of routine. The features of the vehicle range from fully heated automated seats to Bluetooth and GPS. All of the features is absolutely amazing and makes this car my ideal car.

Nissan Altima: overall, an amazing car.
The only problems that I have had with the vehicle are random brake issues that I cannot replicate. Sometimes, when I am in reverse and I accelerate and then press on the brakes, my car makes a dramatic mechanical shift. The audio features are great, but I feel that the USB port does not work with apple CarPlay like 70% of the time and I have to tweak it slightly. It is a very comfortable car, and I love that the back seats fold down.

Sport mode on the Nissan Altima is the best.
There is nothing really bad about this car the only thing I would have an issue is with the gas consumption when in sport mode. But when not in sport mode vehicle is very reliable. I really enjoy the key start option on cold days to warm up the car from the comfort of my home. Smooth and easy driving. Android and apple play for GPS. Lots of technology in the car. Bluetooth connection falters at times. 19 inch rims. Not a lot of engine power but extremely economical. I love my vehicle. It is one of the most comfortable cars I have ever owned. It is extremely quiet on the road and is very stylish. It has all the safety features I look for in a car. It has taken me across the United States twice and have had no issues. It fits me beautifully.

Nissan Altima. Great car!
The Altima is very comfortable. It has been very reliable. We have had no issues with Nissan. They have always been accommodating and helped with whatever is needed. We love the feature that lets you know that you are close to cars when they might be in your blind spot. A great car!

Nissan new sporty 2019 Altima look like a sport car without the price.
I love my Nissan from the exterior design to the luxury interior seating. The car drive extremely well on highway and city streets. My Altima ride so smooth, I have to watch my odometer to make sure it is within in speed limit. The car had a sporty look and definitely stands out in a crowd.

Bluetooth vs backup camera.
So far I only have an issue with the tires going flat with no valid reason. I have had it checked several times and there is no slow leak so I am not sure what's up with it, I really love the backup camera. I also don't like the auto reply on the text when you use Bluetooth.
accountCircle Mimi L on April 27, 2021
It is an all right car, it can get you to places.
The car is ok there are a few engine problems or just generally problems here and there but small. Good car to take you places. But lately the car has been having a real bad problems. The car wouldn't even turn on but it is fixed now. It looks nice inside is nice. When driving it is still smooth, it is not jenkee.

Amazing beautiful Nissan Altima.
It is a very reliable car, and great gas mileage. Favorite thing is the radio and apple carplay. It is also a very easy car to drive. The steering wheel feels very light and the car is very smooth. It is also very comfortable overall to be in. I like the lights on the outside of the car as well.
accountCircle Kayla S on April 26, 2021
Speed of the car. The size of the radio looks like a mini TV. Drives really smooth.
I really love my car a drive smoothly the interior looks really nice inside he has a trim in the inside it looks like wood has a touchscreen radio and I also watch my movies on my radio screen which is big enough when my phone is connected to Bluetooth or apple touch.

Great figures smooth and fast ride.
Haven't had any trouble with the car. It is really a smooth and fast car. Gets you there in no time at where you want to be. And the room! Lots of room to stretch your legs out. I couldn't ask for anything better. The sounds or the toons are really great. Which I like to sing to my favorite song.

The back-up camera and beep feature very handy.
Having a Altima was one of the best purchases that I made in my entire life. With that said if you do not believe my review well I can attest to it because I have not only one but two models one is a bit older. The cars have held up and I am surprised that the older one runs just as good as the new one.

Nissan Altima 2019: fantastic car.
This car is super easy to drive, the wheel is not big, bulky, round shaped, or hard to steer... But rather it is perfectly sized, round on the top but flat at the bottom, and easy to steer the car. When driving this vehicle it feels as if you are gliding on the road in a good way. Not bumpy at all.
accountCircle Austin E on April 11, 2021
The car itself has an incredibly smooth drive.
In terms of problems I have had none except for the key fob dying. However this was simply fixed by replacing the battery. Performance wise the car performs excellent in all conditions presented in the us. Reliability is not an issue with consistent performance, driving smoothness and monitoring/maintenance of routine. The features of the vehicle range from fully heated automated seats to Bluetooth and GPS. All of the features is absolutely amazing and makes this car my ideal car.
accountCircle Harvey T on April 11, 2021
Super safety features on this reliable and reasonably priced car.
My car is reliable and is my 4th Altima. I love the safety features. The only drawback I find is that the car is noisy when traveling along the highway at a fast clip. The ability to cruise on a long trip and be assured you will not hit the car in front of you is perfect.

2019 Nissan Altima AWD. Backup camera is clear and alerts me if anyone is near.
I have a 2019 Nissan Altima with all wheel drive. I love the car so much. It is comfortable and does extremely well in snowy and rainy weather. It drives so smooth and it is very reliable. I have not faced any issues with the car. It is a Nissan so if there are issues, I am not concerned with not having parts available.

Nissan Altima 2.5 sr- silver.
I love the overall look of the Altima sr. It is very efficient with gas and spacious. The leather seats are definitely a plus, especially if you have kids. I feel like it is a cool mom car. The blind spot sensors are also a huge plus! The overall look is very sleek and elegant. Haven't had any issues with it so far and oil changes are very cost friendly.

Comfy car and awesome technology.
Seats are super comfortable. Love having apple car play. Gives alert when traffic unexpectedly comes to a stop. The only complaint I have is every time I cut my car off and open the door to get out the car makes a beeping noise constantly that does not stop until door is closed.
accountCircle Amanda L on April 2, 2021
Great car with lots of helpful features.
The automatic breaks are great and the heated seats/ wheel are amazing. I wish it would show the gas mileage when I am running low so I know how far I can make it to get gas. The radio dial on ours broke within days of getting it, but it is over wise a reliable car.

Sporty with great fuel usage.
The car is sporty and good on gas. Seats are super comfortable and the audio is awesome. Overall the car is super spacious including the trunk. The overall look on this car is great, even down to the wheels. Would recommend a friend into buying this car.

I love the nice orange trim that lines the seats and upholstery.
I have had no issues with my vehicle since I purchased it a few months ago. I would highly recommend the 2019 Nissan Altima to anyone who needs a daily driver vehicle. It has been in the shop a total of zero times, and the gas mileage is to die for!!

2019 Altima review 2.5 sl.
The car rides very smooth. The inside display is very easy to navigate and appealing to the eye. The car also switches gears very smoothly. The add one I have really heighten the overall driving experience. The service alerts are also very helpful.

Loving my car and it represents me.
Very comfortable, reliable, color is great and I love the stereo system. Price was right. The car handles well and very good when it comes to gas. Has all the features I like in an automobile. It is very close to the maxima which I wanted until I saw the price tag and the rest of the features and compared the two automobiles. It was a no brainer.
accountCircle Dawn S on March 25, 2021
I do not recommend 2019 Nissan Altima.
It is ok. It has a blind spot feature I hate and I turn off the feature all the time. I wouldn't really recommend this car. It drives ok. It is sporty. The first time the blind spot feature came on it came on for no reason and I found out it was being considered to be recalled by Nissan. I would not repurchase my car if given the option.

Great on gas! Have only filled 3 times in 4 months!
Personally the only issue we've had so far was the volume knob not working properly, it would go haywire m. It ended up being an issue with the stereo software needing an update only the dealership could do. The ride is smooth, plenty of seating up to 5. Very hot looking design. I do not like how low the car sits but as far as driving as long as the seat is so the way up it is fine. The headlights are bright but not blinding of other people. Plenty of power and get up and go! Easy to speed so be careful. Really great on gas.

The new Altima is a very delightful.
The 2019 Altima is a very reliable and durable car. Since this is not the first Altima that I owned, I can honestly state that this is the best. The ride is more comfortable, the interior is awesome and the unique styling always catches the eye. Also, the trunk space is incredible.

Big touch screen. No CD player. I love XM radio. But all over it's a great car.
2019 Nissan Altima 2.5 s dark blue. I love it. Big screen and Sirius XM. It gets great gas mileage. The air is cold and heat is great. Needs tires. And regular maintenance but it's only a little overdue. Needs tires but they still have great tread. I wish I would have gotten the rogue tho. For more room but I love my Altima.

Things about the Altima that I like or dislike.
Vehicle performance is pretty good, smooth, peppy, corners well. Heated seats and steering wheel are a plus. Have some difficulty reading the display panel in sunlight and the pressure radio buttons do not always change the channels on one touch which is very distracting.
accountCircle Bry T on March 17, 2021
Comfortable! Great details & great on gas!
My Altima is great on gas! I haven’t had many issue with it. I bought mine because others told me how good of a car it was and it made me want to get into one superbad. All of the details are great! It rides so smooth. The seats are super comfortable and there is plenty of room in there. The trunk is a really good size.

Excellent choice for a big luxury looking sedan.
Smooth and easy driving. Android and apple play for GPS. Lots of technology in the car. Bluetooth connection falters at times. 19 inch rims. Not a lot of engine power but extremely economical. I get 29 mpg throughout the city. Overall really good car. Interior is nicely made and has a blend of leather and cloth. Much bigger inside than the Infiniti sedan and Lexus I trims.

A great car, great mileage and handling.
My car is very comfortable to ride in and it is very pleasant when it comes to the way it handles and it gets great gas mileage, it is a great car and probably the best car I have ever owned and it will probably be the last car that I own. My previous car was also a Nissan Altima it was a 2010 that had over 100, 000 miles on it and it was also a great car.

The Nissan Altima is a terrific car to own. You should get one.
I have had no problems at all with this vehicle. It drives really good and has a smooth riding experience. It is very roomy in the front and the back. It has built in apps and Wi-Fi. If I were to trade this vehicle in for another one, I would most definitely trade for another Altima.
accountCircle Xitlaly E on March 11, 2021
Smooth ride, bumpy wheels?
I really enjoy the gas mileage that I get on my car and enjoy how smooth the ride feels. However, I do not like that the tires often feel deflated for no apparent reason and also that the gear shift can move without having to hold down the button. This is very dangerous especially for me because I have a dog.
accountCircle Debby W on March 10, 2021
Not recommended due to uncomfortable seats and bumpy ride.
It is not a very comfortable ride since it gives a very bumpy ride. You feel the road and every bump. Additionally, the shape of the car is not aesthetically pleasing; it is not a good looking car and it did not come in nice colors I would prefer a maroon.

4 door sedan that drives like a sports car.
It handles beautifully and has all the features you'd want in a 4 door sedan bullet looks and drives like a sports car. I love the stock rims, the screen. The sunroof and the faux leather interior. It has adequate trunk space and the cup holders in the back seat that are folded down.
accountCircle Jasmine T on March 7, 2021
Reliable and low maintenance.
The car is great on gas, there is really nothing special about it but it is a very nice car for the price. I have the midnight edition with leather interior so it is quite nice when cleaned. It does really well performance wise and maintenance is very easy. I would recommend the car for someone who needs a reliable car that does not want to spend a ton but still wants it to be nice.
