Cargo space is lower than some competitors, there’s only one engine offered and some ownership costs are high.

Audi q5 has it all; style, comfort and high performance.
The q5 drives like a dream, is an extremely comfortable drive, and has top of the line features, some I haven't learned to use. A great stereo system, that is easy to use. There have been no issues with the car. One recall that Audi took care of quickly and it was minor.

Perfect car... Sassy and classy!
Handles beautifully! Comfortable with plenty of room for driver and passengers. Many upgrades from the q3 model. The only thing that bothers me is the sound system resets most of the time when using an iPod. The playlist will automatically go to the first artist rather than staying in the playlist you were listening to previously. It does not happen every time so that is even more irritating. Overall, I love this car!

It is a really good car. It drives very smoothly and overall is just easy to use. Everything is self explanatory. The only bad thing about the car is that it is pretty pricey on gas - which adds up to be a lot over time. Besides that it is the best option for me.

A vehicle for big families.
This vehicle is a must if you have a big family. We have three dogs and a baby and the functionality is really amazing. We feel the comfort since you are turning on. The vehicle saves a lot of gas. We use to have the q3 and the difference is noticeable. The performance is just amazing we do not have any complaints about the performance of the vehicle.

Lane Assist Gives False Alarms
On straight roads, Active Lane Assist will give false alerts saying to put hands on the wheel, even though you are driving with both hands on the wheel in the middle of the lane. I like the feature, but the implementation is so annoying that I have to turn it off. Could happen every few minutes.Very dissappointed in Audi who says the car is operating to specifications and there is nothing they can do. Buy another car if this safety feature is important to you.

Comfortable and safe vehicle.
This car has a lot of great safety features. It is comfortable, stylish and a fun car to drive. The trunk is very spacious. My biggest complaint would be that my family should have chosen a bigger car because there is not enough room with car seats in the back.

What Do Critics Say About the Audi Q5?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Audi Q5 offers a lot of improvements from the previous generation, with high owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the Q5 at 4.5/5, enjoying the very quiet cabin with nice materials, but doesn’t like that there’s only one engine choice available.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the 2019 Q5 a 4.2/5, praising the excellent standard all-wheel drive system, but owners don’t like that it has a relatively small cargo area.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Audi Q5 Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Audi Q5 include excessive noise from the brakes, water on the floor of the cabin, along with some check-engine lights. Overall, these problems are similar to other small luxury SUVs, leading to average repair costs as the Q5 ages.

Excessive noise from the brakes is the most widespread complaint from 2019 Q5 owners, showing up at around 10,000 miles. Usually brake noise is a sign that the pads have worn down, and will need to be replaced. Changing out the brake pads costs around $300, depending on local labor rates.

Water on the floor of the cabin is another issue mentioned by some Q5 owners within the first 5,000 miles. The drain line from the sunroof comes loose in some cases, and allows water to dump out on the floor of the vehicle. Repairing the sunroof drain line is usually done under warranty when the SUVs is new, but out of warranty it’s about a $75 fix.

Check engine lights have also been reported on the 2019 Q5 at around 40,000 miles. There are a lot of reasons a check engine light may turn on, so you will need to use an OBD-II scan tool to read the codes in the computer. Once the codes have been read, it can cost $20 to $400 to fix the problem, depending on the source.

There are five recalls on the 2019 Audi Q5, which is similar to a lot of other SUVs on the market. The most serious recall covers the engine control module, which may shut down and reduce engine power. Audi will install a cover on the control module to prevent water from causing it to shut down for free. Other recalls cover the wheel arch trim, instrument panel, and the parking brake.

How Long Will the 2019 Audi Q5 Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Audi Q5 can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than some other compact luxury SUVs like the Lexus NX. Regular annual maintenance costs are higher than some competitors, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $870 per year.

As a used 2019 Q5 reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the window switch for $250, brake booster costing $700, along with the engine oil pan, which costs around $900.

How Is the Technology?

Standard entertainment technology is very good with a 7-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional upgrades include a larger 8.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a premium Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system.

The standard safety technology is excellent, and features:

  • Audi Pre Sense Basic, which rolls out windows and tightens seatbelts
  • Audi Pre Sense City, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection
  • Rearview camera

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Lane keep assist
  • Vehicle exit warning
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Head-up display
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Parallel and perpendicular park assist
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist
  • Surround-view parking camera system

Is the 2019 Audi Q5 a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Audi Q5 is a good value since it offers a lot of technology and luxury for the money, along with improved reliability from last year. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $23,300 to $39,990, making it more than a Volvo XC40 or Infiniti QX50. When new, the price range was $42,950 to $52,400. How Does the Audi Q5 Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Audi Q5 is a nice compact luxury SUV, offering a lot of technology features paired with an upscale cabin for the money, helping it earn our recommendation.

The BMW X3 is another small luxury SUV, which costs about $2,500 more. Where the BMW X3 stands out is with a sportier driving experience, but the Audi Q5’s standard all-wheel drive system is better in the snow. We recommend the BMW X3 since it’s more fun to own, although both are worth test driving to see which you prefer.

The Acura RDX is a popular small SUV, which is available for about $4,000 less. Long-term ownership costs are lower on the Acura RDX, while the Audi Q5 offers a more luxurious interior. We recommend the Acura RDX since it’s cheaper to keep running as it ages, yet both are nice SUVs worth test driving to see which you like better.

Why I love to drive the Audi q5.
I love the way my car drives so smoothly- it also feels like a sedan but has the height of an svu when driving it which is a really great option for someone who wants to own an svu but does not need a giant car. I highly recommend my car to anyone interested in an Audi.

Overall I love my car and it is everything I expected except for one thing. The hatchback does not go up as high as the 2017 version I had before. I am 6'2' and bent over to put something in the cargo area and smashed my head so hard I saw stars! Otherwise the q5 is well worth the money and still thousands less than a similar x3 or xc60.

Quality and comfort at a price that is comparable to a domestic.
I have not had any issues with my vehicle and I have had it almost a year. It has the 4 cylinder quattro which has pretty good power, not crazy good, but it is more than sufficient. It is a good size with a good trunk. I like the light up side mirrors when something is in my blind spot. It has many luxury features without the big price tag.

It shows the Audi symbol on the ground light up whenever you open the door.
Works pretty well sometimes is too high tech. It will lock on itself if you touch the handle a certain way. Takes a little bit of time to load the input when you plug in your device. Runs pretty well and good on gas. Is pretty fast and breaks are sensitive.

I also really love the heated seats throughout the car!
I really wanted the charging station in my car which is why we got the premium plus. Was it worth the extra money? No because I've only used it about 3 times in 10 months. I also wish the apple car play didn't need the device to be plugged in and just worked with Bluetooth but it's still a really cool features.

Excellent performance vehicle with poorly designed system accessibility.
Great vehicle but electronic system needs changes. The accessibility of the electronic system is poor in a sense that it is hard to navigate the radio, GPS, and heating/air conditioning systems etc. The car turns off at red lights and some prolonged stop signs and restarts the engine upon acceleration.

Second Audi q5; forever customer.
This is my second q5 and I love it! The vehicle drives like a car, but rides like an SUV, so I feel safe and sturdy in it. The extra long sunroof / moonroof is one of my favorite features. I love opening it on a nice day! The hatchback trunk holds a lot more than it looks, which is great when transporting a lot of things or even a few dogs. The back seats each individually fold down, including the middle seat on it is own (comes in handy when you have longer items that need to reach from the back into the front, but still have room for 4 passengers!). I love driving my cute Audi, it drives super well and it can move, so fast!
I really like my car, it drives really well and has good speed/pick-up, the size is nice and it is easy to park. The rear camera is really nice, I wish it had the heads-up display, and there is not very much storage at the front of the car in the middle console. Also if they could do better rear ventilation that would be good.

Why to buy German over American. Audi q5- superb quality.
Awesome drive, pickup. Its room and the handling is superb. This is probably the nicest vehicle that I have owned. It is my 3rd outing the 1st one was an a for the 2nd 1 was in a 3 and this 1 is q5. There's a lot of options. Best decision I made is to get black rims. Adds a lot to the look of the exterior.

Q5 Audi; comfortable, reliable, and stylish.
The car is extremely comfortable, reliable and stylish. It has a great sound system with a high tech Bluetooth smart screen so you can change music and check directions without having to pick up your phone. The car runs very smooth and is very easy to operate. I always feel safe and comfortable while driving.

2019 Audi q5 is a great vehicle.
My 2019 Audi q5 premium plus is an excellent midsize luxury crossover vehicle that has a good blend of all the attributes I look for in any vehicle: comfort, handling, power, utility, quality, reliability, safety, and technical convenience features. It provides all this at a price that is very competitive within its market segment for a luxury brand. Overall long-term reliability seems very good and cost of ownership so far has been low. I drive a lot for my job and have accumulated over 15,000 miles in 10 months with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I would highly recommend the Audi q5 to anyone who is shopping for a mid-size luxury crossover.

I absolutely love the Audi q5. It is the best!
I love this car very much. I have had it for over a year now and I must say I haven't had much problems since. It drives smoothly on the road and I love the interior and exterior features of the vehicle very much. Anyone planning to purchase this vehicle will not be disappointed. I promise.

You can move your foot on the ground to open the trunk.
The only thing I would change is that there is not a place to hold sunglasses. Otherwise, I love the car. It has way better gas mileage than the Cherokee I was driving. I fill up my tank once every week and a half. Audi makes safe cars and I will continue to purchase from Audi.

Comfortable and safe vehicle.
This car has a lot of great safety features. It is comfortable, stylish and a fun car to drive. The trunk is very spacious. My biggest complaint would be that my family should have chosen a bigger car because there is not enough room with car seats in the back.

Love my Audi q5. Sometimes the truth does open on its own.
I have had no problems with my vehicle. I get my regular oil changes and bring it in if there’s recalls on it. The only thing that I can say about my vehicle and any problem is sometimes the trunk opens up on its own. I have had this problem fixed when I brought it in for the oil change.

The best part of the car would either be the speakers or the wireless charging.
I do not have any problems with the car except for sometimes it has an Audi pre sense randomly. Super comfortable great speakers seats are nice and drives really fast and smooth. Easy to use phone with especially apple play and has built in wireless charging which is convenient.

The Audi q5 is a very comfortable vehicle.
This car drives smoothly and the user interface for the internal operating system is very easy to use. It connects well with Bluetooth. The seats are very comfortable and the back row folds down for extra space. The steering and brakes are slightly touchy, but it drives well.
