The engine oil type used on the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee is SAE 10W-30 for 4.0 L engines but SAE 5W-30 can also be used. The 4.7L engine uses SAE 5W-30 but SAE 10W-30 can be used as well. If You would like to know the capacity of Your vehicle then it is simple. All engines, 4.0 L and 4.7L uses a total of 6 quarts of engine oil. The main function of engine oil is to keep Your motor and its components lubricated and free from rust. It's important to check the oil level since a low level can put a lot of pressure on Your motor.
