If You want to know what type of oil to use on Your 2005 Toyota Corolla, then it is SAE 5W-30. If by any chance You can't find any 5W-30, You can then use SAE 10W-30. Just remember that when You get Your oil changed to use 5W-30 again. The oil capacity on the 1ZZˆ’FE engine iS3.9 quarts with a filter and 3.7 quarts without a filter. The 2ZZˆ’GE has a capacity of 4.8 quarts with a filter and 4.6 quarts without a filter. It's important that when You change the oil on Your Corolla, You also change the oil filter since You want everything brand new.

If your 2005 Toyota Corolla's 1.8L inline-4 (engine code [R] 1ZZ-FE 3) has a replaced dipstick (part number 15301-22050), it will take only 4.4 quarts of oil. If it still has the original dipstick, then it needs 3.9 quarts. The 1.8L inline-4 (engine code 2ZZ--GE B) available for the 2005 Corolla has an oil capacity of 4.6 quarts. The oil viscosity weight for these engines is 5W30 synthetic.
