Though the 2010 Subaru Outback isn't really built for towing, it still boasts a 2,700 to 3,000 pound towing capacity, depending on configuration. The 2.5L 4Cylinder won't get You as much power as the 3.6L 6 cylinder. It's capable of producing between 170 and 247 lb-ft of torque, again depending on configuration. It has a maximum payload of between 1,070 and 1,212 pounds. The maximum tongue weight on an Outback, according to Subaru, is a hard 200 pounds, regardless of which hitch You're bolting into. Most drivers, however, recommend keeping it under 175 pounds for the best driving experience. As always, it's important to note that Your real towing capacity might be less, if Your Outback is telling You so; You don't want to end up blowing out a transmission for attempting to drive at highway speeds witH3,000 pounds for hours on end.
