The 2011 GMC sierra 1500 oil type and capacity iS5w-30 and 4.5 quarts. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Bad oil can cause the engine to fail. A normal problem is a nasty burning smell. This needs to be looked into as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience terrible gas mileage. Knocking noise may come about from the engine.

I use the Castro GTX 5w-30 full synthetic high mileage in my 2011. I have 114,000 plus miles on it. We change it every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. I also use one quart of Lucas oil treatment in with every oil change. It is always clean looking every oil change. I would recommend using the Lucas with every oil change. It helps.

Anything after 2011 is 5w30 full synthetic. Make sure it says DexOs1 otherwise future issues may occur.
