The 2013 Chevrolet Suburban comes with one of three different engines -- You'll either have A5.3L V8 FlexFuel with engine code LMG, A5.3L V8 FlexFuel with engine code LC9, or A6.0L V8 FlexFuel with engine code L96. All three use the same amount of oil -- You'll be takenG6 quarts, which equates to 5.7 liters. It's recommended to use SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil, but in a pinch, SAE 5W-40 conventional will suffice. The use of the latter, however, is not recommended; its inferior viscosity at operating temperature can cause premature wear on the engine, which will reduce the effective lifetime of Your Suburban. It's best to pay a few extra dollars and go with the 5W-30 synthetic whenever possible.

Failure to use the Chevrolet approved engine oil or equivalent can cause damages to the engine. The approved engine oil for the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban is the SAE 5W-30. In an area of extreme cold, where the temperature falls below −29°C (−20°F), an SAE 0W-30 oil may be used. The engine oil capacity for the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban is 6.0 US quarts (5.7 liters).
