The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 uses synthetic oil in all three engines. The 4.3l v6 engine uses SAE 5w-30 oil and can hold 6 quarts. The 5.3l v8 and the 6.2l v8 both run on SAE 0w-20 and have the capacity foR8 quarts of oil. It is recommended to change Your oil every 7,500 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. You can extend Your engine life, get better gas mileage, and have better performance if You change Your oil regularly. Routine oil and filter changes help remove particles and sludge from the engine. If the oil isn't changed, Your vehicle's engine will start to have a lot of problems.Over time the oil will become thinner, abrasive, and will start to wear down on vital engine parts.

It depends on what engine you have. The 4.3l engine uses the 5W-30W. If that is the engine you have then you are OK. It uses 6 quarts of oil.
