The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee uses sae 5w-20 viscosity oil and has a capacity of 6 quarts. When performing an oil change on the car You will first want to make sure that the vehicle has been parked and off for a couple of hours. Otherwise, the oil in the car will be very hot and You could burn Yourself. Find the oil pan in the engine compartment and locate the drain plug on the underside. Position a bucket under the plug and then remove it. This will allow the oil to drain into the pan. Let it do this until it stops dripping, which may take an hour or so. After it has finished dripping You can put the drain plug back on, then locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Using a funnel fill the oil pan to full, but make sure to not overfill. A little under is fine, but going over can lead to leaks and oil burn off. Once it is full close the port up, wipe up any spilt oil and You will be finished.

The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee uses a synthetic blend oil SAE 5W-20 with the exception of the 6.4L V8 engine which requires a 0W-40 oil. The oil capacity for SUV varies by engine. The 3.6-L V6 engine has a capacity of 6 quarts. The 5.7L V8 and 6.4-L V8 hold 7 quarts and the 3.0-Liter DOHC Ecodiesel V-6 holds 8.2.

2016 Grand Cherokee Summit 3.6 L takes 6 quarts of oil which is correct. The problem is the oil fill cap says 0w/20 but the manual says 5w/20. The Jeep service department told me they use whatever is printed on the filler cap. No exceptions. My personal opinion is 0w/20 is a winter oil. O5w/20 should be summer oil. I use full Synthetic Iboth cases.

It completely depends on which motor your Grand Cherokee has, for the 2016 model year there was 4 different engines each with its own oil viscosity and type and capacity. The 3.0l EcoDiesel takes 7.8 liters of Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 during an oil change.
