Each version of the 2017 Subaru Impreza comes with the same 2.0L 4Cylinder engine -- this makes deterMINIng oil type and capacity a breeze. In any stock configuration -- not including the WRxAnd WRX STi, which are considered their own models for practical purposes -- the 2.0L will use 4.6 quarts of SAE 0W-20 synthetic motor oil. In a pinch, it's also possible to use SAE 5W-20, or even SAE 5W-30, though their uses are not recommended over the long term. And here's why: an oil's weight refers to its viscosity at varying temperatures: the first number is at startup, and the second at operating temperature. Higher numbers refer to a more viscous oil, which can introduce friction into the system and prematurely put wear and tear on Your engine. Do YourseLFA favor and pay a little more money for a less viscous oil, if recommended. You'll thank Yourself over the long term.

A 2017 Subaru Impreza requires a full synthetic oil for it's 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, SAE 0W-20. The oil capacity is 4.6 quarts, with a fresh filter.
