To reset the change oil light on the 2018 Ram 1500 You will need to go into settings on the console dash. Go down to oil, find the reset button, and confirm it. That said if You still need to change the oil then the light will come back on in a bit. When performing an oil change on the car You will first want to make sure that the vehicle has been parked and off for a couple of hours. Otherwise, the oil in the car will be very hot and You could burn Yourself. Find the oil pan in the engine compartment and locate the drain plug on the underside. Position a bucket under the plug and then remove it. This will allow the oil to drain into the pan. Let it do this until it stops dripping, which may take an hour or so. After it has finished dripping You can put the drain plug back on, then locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Using a funnel fill the oil pan to full, but make sure to not overfill. A little under is fine, but going over can lead to leaks and oil burn off. Once it is full close the port up, wipe up any spilt oil and You will be finished.

Turn ignition switch to on position(do not start engine)-- 2) fully depress accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds -- 3) turn ignition switch to off position --- note if message illuminates when you start the engine the system did not reset. Repeat the process.

This is for the following instructions to cover the model year 2005, as well as older gmc products and chevrolet vehicles without a vehicle information center (vic). To reset the oil change light, you have to follow these two steps: slip behind the wheel and close all the doors. Insert the key in the ignition and turn the key to the accessory position. At this point, the instrument panel will illuminate. Next, depress the accelerator pedal to the floor within the first five seconds of turning the key. Keep your eye on the oil light, as it should flash before turning off. You can then release the pedal, turn off the ignition and remove the key. If the light fails to turn off, repeat the process.
