The 2009 Chevrolet Aveo has a timing belt to synC-HRonize the position of the crankshaft to the timing of the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. As the crankshaft turns, so does the camshaft. Their position to each other are important to the performance of the engine. As the valves open and close, fuel is injected into the engine, burned and the gases exit out the exhaust. If the timing is not spot on, the engine will mIS Fire and might not start. If the timing is off enough, the piston could smack into a valve because it opens at the wrong time, which would destroy the engine. The belt needs to be replaced somewhat regularly to prevent this from happening.

The 2009 chevy aveo has a timing belt that should be replaced every 60,000 miles or so.
