The 2007 Ford Fusion comes in two different engine configurations; the smaller 2.3L 4Cylinder engine is driven by a timing belt, while the larger 3.0L V6 uses a timing chain. While there are advantages and disadvantages to each, most experts agree that timing chains are the preferred way to go, if You're given a choice. The Fusion's timing belt is recommended to be changed every 70,000 to 100,000 miles, depending on usage. The V6 Fusion's timing chain is estimated to last 250,000 to 300,000 miles; there's a good chance the rest of the car will fail before the chain does. However, in the case of catastrophic failure, a timing chain replacement can cost upwards of $3,000 (plus any damaged caused), while belts are typically significantly less. There's no right answer to which is best, and depending on engine, You may have either.

The 2007 ford fusion does not have a chain. It has a timing belt that connects the camshaft and crankshaft of the engine.

The 2007 Ford Fusion has a timing belt. The timing belt connects the engine's camshaft and crankshaft and ensures that they maintain proper timing to keep the engine running smoothly.
