The 2010 Ford Fusion does not have any open rack and pinion recalls; while some similar Ford vehicles have had issues with their electric power steering system and thus were subject to a recall, the Fusion did not meet the same fate. With that said, there are some customer complaints about the steering system, but nothing specific to the rack and pinion. The most common symptom of steering issues on the '10 Fusion is the illumination of the power steering assist light on the dashboard. If You see this, pull the vehicle over as soon as safely possible, because it's likely that the steering system is soon to fail. Ford has made no comment on the issue.

The ford fusion steering components are being recalled because an intermittent electrical connection can cause the power steering to fail making the vehicle hard to steer and resulting in a crash.

I have a late year 2010 Mercury milan produced in November. There is a 2011 owners manual in the glovebox. Is there anything I can do? POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE & ADVANCETRAC warnings. No power steering whatsoever. It has happened before but would be okay when I restarted the car. Now it's permanent. Help?
